My Story

At my core I am a designer. I have done web and CAD design. I have a background in technical illustration and expertise using content management systems. Most recently I was my organization's SharePoint Subject Matter Expert at Ford Motor Company. I was responsible for setting up 5 cross linked site collections and libraries.

I started my career as a Technical Illustrator after receiving an Associates of Applied Science in Technical Illustration from Ferris State University in 1983. I worked in this field doing manual drawings and later used Auto-trol Tech Illustrator software.

I got started in web design around 1992 as an offshoot of the screen printing I was doing on the side. That is when I discovered the internet and started making my own web pages for the fun of it.

In 1994 I took over the Ford Truck CAD Department’s web site. Later, when the department was clashing with purchasing over CAD outsourcing decisions I created my first web based application.

Over time Ford transitioned to Portals and eRooms for web presence and content management respectively and I became fluent using these applications. I used this knowledge in a number of subsequent positions.

In late 2008 I needed internship credits for my BS IT and was given the role of SharePoint Subject Matter Expert. This position was eliminated as the result of salaried cost reduction actions in January 2009.
